How well can the Tesla K40c run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The Tesla K40c GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2019 popular games. This short Tesla K40c game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 312 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

Running at 1080p this card gets a weak frame rate from Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order with 0 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Diablo 4 which is predicted to return a weak 0 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Need For Speed Heat which we saw getting a weak 23 FPS.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order to see how the Tesla K40c dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. Next we looked at Diablo 4 which we predict will be weak with a 0 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Need For Speed Heat that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 18. 1440p Tesla K40c PC gaming is going to underperform if you try and run modern games.

How many years will the Tesla K40c graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Tesla K40c in your PC? This Tesla K40c card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Tesla K40c? A suitable upgrade choice for the Tesla K40c is the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, which is 95% more powerful and can run 901 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 43% better performance and can run 685 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

Tesla K40c Game Requirement Analysis

Tesla K40c is a high-end professional Graphics Card created for server purposes only.
It's designed to solve the most complex high performance computing problems.
It comes with a Kepler GK110 with a full count of 2880 Shader Processing Units but the drivers aren't certified for games. Therefore, even if Tesla K40 is powerful enough for even the most demanding games, it might not be compatible.
Its gaming performance is below comparable to GeForce GTX Titan.
