How well can the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Getting one of these Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition graphics cards allows the gamer to run indie system requirements and some less demanding AAA titles. In today’s PC hardware terms these are considered middle range for gaming performance. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Lets look at the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2019. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 110 games in the list.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Cyberpunk 2077 and predict it will deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We proceeded to look at The Outer Worlds to see how that compared and saw that it returned a playable 27 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 to predict how the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition would deal with it. Our research revealed a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. Next we looked at The Outer Worlds which was weak with a 21 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 9. Looking at a few of these 1440p results for the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition we get the impression that it is unable to perform adequately across modern games at this increased resolution.

How many years will the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition in your PC? Its time to start researching your next graphics card upgrade as the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition is failing to meet modern day gaming system requirements. A gpu AAA lifespan of around 6-12 months.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition? A great upgrade graphics card would be a 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, which has 136% better performance and can run 898 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. Alternatively a good choice when looking to upgrade the Radeon HD 7950 PowerColor PCS+ Edition would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which meets 671 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 73% better performance.
