How well can the Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Getting one of these Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition graphics cards allows the gamer to run indie system requirements and some less demanding AAA titles. In today’s PC hardware terms these are considered middle range for gaming performance. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2019 popular games. This short Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. The Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 175 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition can run Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order at 1080p and saw it return weak frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Borderlands 3 returns a weak 4 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order to see how the Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. Next we looked at Borderlands 3 which was weak with a 3 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at FIFA 20 that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 68. Running games at 1440p with a Radeon HD 7950 WindForce Boost Edition is not going to be able to keep stable frame rates at all times at Ultra 1440p on modern games.

Everything over the factory OC results to core throtlling on furmark at 76 degrees celcius. In games it works up to 1100mhz usually but fans tend to get loud. this card already has some pretty heavy OC out of the box.
