A true powerhouse, the GeForce GTX 1080 will run even the most demanding game system requirements released today. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 1080 get on latest AAA 2019 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. This graphics hardware can run 973 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce GTX 1080 is predicted to run Cyberpunk 2077 with reasonable performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 55 frames per second. Comparing this to Borderlands 3 which is getting good results, where it averages 72 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Planet Zoo, which is running at 55 frames per second.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the GeForce GTX 1080 performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Cyberpunk 2077 and predict it will deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 111 FPS, Medium: 87 FPS, High: 59 FPS and Ultra: 42 FPS. We then checked the performance on Borderlands 3 to see if that runs well. It was reasonable with a 55 FPS at Ultra 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 1080 running at 1440p is capable of delivering a solid gaming experience across larger screen sized monitors. We expect to see High and Ultra graphics settings across most games at 1440p with this GPU.

You might experience some bottleneck using a i5 6600k, but it won't be so bad. I strongly recommend you these CPUs: i7 7700 (if you won't overclock), i7 7700k (if you'll overclock, roughly better than i7 7700).

no damage but it will heat up more if you have stock cooler then i recommend getting atleast evo212 or similar but i would get only gtx 1080 if you planing on cpu upgrade otherwise more then gtx 970 or r9 290 can be pretty high bottleneck in some scenario with fx 6300 even oced

Undervoltet my card from 1050mv to 900 mv, while the core is increased to 2012 mhz.


Max TDP I've seen is 86%. So pulling 155 watts instead of 180.


Not bad. Increased mem OC, core OC and still uses less power! :-D

I can also run 2138 at 1050mv, or 2176 at 1080mv. But the TDP is going crazy high, over 130 etc. That is 230 watts++. Not worth 80 watts extra for sub 10% performance gain.
