How well can the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Lets look at the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2019. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 347 games in the list.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition is running Borderlands 3 and delivering playable performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 30 frames per second. Comparing this to Death Stranding which is predicted to get weak results, where it averages 9 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is running at 25 frames per second.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Borderlands 3 to see how the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 59 FPS, Medium: 47 FPS, High: 32 FPS and Ultra: 23 FPS. Next we looked at Death Stranding which we predict will be weak with a 6 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 19. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition is not the best resolution for this GPU, but if you adjust some graphics settings, perhaps lowering to medium or low at 1440p then this graphics card might be ok.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 680 Galaxy 2GB SOC Edition? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 79% better and can meet 899 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively we would suggest getting a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, as it can run 683 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 31% increased graphics performance.
