How well can the GeForce GT 625M run games
31 Oct 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Based on current gaming requirements the GeForce GT 625M is considered one of the weakest cards and wont meet modern AAA game specs. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 11 requirement.

How many years will the GeForce GT 625M graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GT 625M in your PC? This GeForce GT 625M graphics card has reached the end of its ability to run games released today. If you have it in your gaming PC then it’s time to upgrade your graphics solution.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GT 625M? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 20 Series GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile. This PC hardware upgrade performs 1973% better and can run 982 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively a good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500M 8GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 1190% better and can meet 617 of their recommended requirements.

GeForce GT 625M Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GT 625M is a entry-level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm Technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GF117 which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 625MHz.
Additionally, GF117 is built using a 28nm technology.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is extremely exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 15W, it is suited for small laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 625M is essentially a GeForce GT 620M with a 2GB frame buffer.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is slightly below the older GeForce GT 525M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Core i3 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 625M.
