How well can the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition run games
31 Jul 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Getting one of these GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition graphics cards allows the gamer to run indie system requirements and some less demanding AAA titles. In today’s PC hardware terms these are considered middle range for gaming performance. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 11 requirement.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition is at running the more popular games of 2019. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 184 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing eFootball PES 2020 getting 39FPS with the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition, The Outer Worlds getting 6FPS and Red Dead Redemption 2 getting 6frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we ran eFootball PES 2020 on the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition to see that it got a playable set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra results at 1440p - L: 78FPS, M: 61FPS, H: 41FPS, U: 29FPS. Other popular game to test at 1440p with this card was The Outer Worlds which seemed playable in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 4 FPS. And then took a look at Red Dead Redemption 2 where its Ultra 1440p Frame rates were playable at 4FPS. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition running at 1440p is not a viable PC gaming choice.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition in your PC? We think this GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition has around 6-12 months until an upgrade should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 140% better and can meet 922 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively if you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 76% better and can run 724 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

GeForce GTX 660 Ti WindForce 2X OC Edition Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 660 Ti Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 2GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Performance GeForce GTX 660 Ti, created by Gigabyte.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit now runs at 1032MHz, instead of 915MHz and goes up to 1110MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer remain the same.

Cooling Solution
The reference NVIDIA Single-Fan Cooling System has been replaced by Gigabyte's WINDFORCE 2X 100mm Fansink equipped with "Triangle Cool" Technology to reach a better cooling performance. The latest patent pending technology combines fin with clip module in a special triangle shape. With the original anti-turbulence structure plus the new triangle cooling design, it enhances the efficiency of heat dissipation dramatically by minimizing the flow of turbulence between fans.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 5% performance over the reference GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

Enjoying the card. Just wondering if an upgrade to a gtx 770 or gtx 960 would be worth it?

Definitely a 7970, but to be honest you might need a new system all together, your CPU will be a HUGE bottleneck.

closer to the 670 than the 660… and the 670 will give you roughly 10fps higher

i know its pretty late but for others who see this id really recommend this card (660TI OC Edition) over the 660TI OC PowerEdition.
Reason… you wont get much more performance benefit maybe 5fps more, maybe not even..

it can max out every current game with a decent FPS, but almost sure, that your processor will bottleneck it… give it a little OC, and you'll be fine :)
