How well can the Riva TNT run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Based on current gaming requirements the Riva TNT is considered one of the weakest cards and wont meet modern AAA game specs. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 5 requirement.

How many years will the Riva TNT graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Riva TNT in your PC? Its upgrade time for the Riva TNT, assuming you are a modern day gamer.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Riva TNT? A good choice when looking to upgrade the Riva TNT would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which meets 897 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 47733% better performance. Alternatively a good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 35050% better and can meet 668 of their recommended requirements.

Riva TNT Game Requirement Analysis

The RIVA TNT, codenamed NV4, is a 2D, video, and 3D graphics accelerator chip for PCs that was manufactured by Nvidia. It was released in mid 1998 and cemented Nvidia's reputation as a worthy rival within the developing consumer 3D graphics adapter industry. The first RIVA TNT based card released on June 15, 1998 by STB: Velocity 4400. RIVA is an acronym for Real-time Interactive Video and Animation accelerator. The "TNT" suffix refers to the chip's ability to work on two texels at once (TwiN Texel).

The company that made these was bought by Nvidia, hence the SLi. Also, there is no functional difference between Crossfire and SLi, they are the same technology with different names.

The Bus width was the aspect that evolved the less. One reason might be because high-end GPUs aren't "stuck" because of bandwidth but because of processing power.
