How well can the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition run games
10 Feb 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

Gamers upgrading will be considering the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition graphics card as a serious price to performance entry point. This card will meet and play most demanding AAA games and do so with good graphics setting as standard, and confidently pushing past the recommended game system requirements needed to run today’s games. This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2020. In particular we focus on how well the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. This graphics hardware can run 621 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

The GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition graphics card is returning a strong performance on Fortnite: Chapter 2 at 1080p of 108 frames per second at Ultra graphics settings. Another popular title that is good to benchmark graphics cards against is Grand Theft Auto VI which we predict will get weak frame rates of 12 FPS. A third game we can look at on Ultra at 1080p is the popular Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, which was getting 81 FPS under tests.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition ran Fortnite: Chapter 2 to a strong performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 216 FPS, Medium: 171 FPS, High: 115 FPS and Ultra: 82 FPS. Another game researched was Grand Theft Auto VI with predictions of L: 23FPS, M: 18FPS, H: 12FPS, U: 9FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, which returned L: 162FPS, M: 128FPS, H: 86FPS, U: 61FPS at 1440p. After a look at the popular games running at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition, this is a good choice for running modern games at Ultra in this larger screen resolution.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for around 2 years

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 35% better and can run 878 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively if you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 42% better and can run 954 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's high-end GeForce GTX 970 4GB created by Gigabyte. It features a new Cooling Solution and overclocking out of the box. Read below to know more.

Overclock Out of The Box
The Central Unit now runs at 1178MHz, instead of 1051MHz. Boost Clock is now of 1329MHz, instead of 1178MHz. Memory Clock was left untouched. This means the Card performs better when compared to the reference NVIDIA Graphics Card but should also consume slightly more power.

Cooling Solution
The reference NVIDIA Single-Fan Cooling System has been replaced by Gigabyte's WINDFORCE 3X Triple Fan Cooling Solution. This means the card runs cooler under load.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 6% performance over the reference GeForce GTX 970 4GB.

if it does fit it will be tight you could break off a little bit of the plastic if you want jk on a more serious note depending where the pci express slot sits you may need to remove your hard drive bay i have 2 bays for hard drive one in middle one on bottom (not including the bays for optical drives)

The card is not as long as listed, Its about a few CM off, hope that helps. Was told it wouldn't fit in my case even without the bay fan removed. From PCPARTPICKER. Lul and it's sitting in my case with an inch of clearance.

I'd suggest 600w for that system :) Only because the card overclocks itself but other that, not a problem.
