In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro K500M are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce 9800M GT.

The Quadro K500M was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 9800M GT, and so the Quadro K500M is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 9800M GT when running the latest games.

The Quadro K500M has 512 MB more video memory than the GeForce 9800M GT, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GeForce 9800M GT has 36.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro K500M, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce 9800M GT is noticeably better than the Quadro K500M.

The Quadro K500M has 192 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 9800M GT has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the Quadro K500M is 163 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 9800M GT is 120. The Quadro K500M having 43 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 9800M GT performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Quadro K500M transistor size technology is 37 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce 9800M GT. This means that the Quadro K500M is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce 9800M GT. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Quadro K500M should consume less power than the GeForce 9800M GT.

The GeForce 9800M GT requires 65 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Quadro K500M.
