In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro K4000M are significantly better than the Nvidia Quadro FX 3700M.

The Quadro K4000M was released over three years more recently than the Quadro FX 3700M, and so the Quadro K4000M is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Quadro FX 3700M when running the latest games.

The Quadro K4000M has 3072 MB more video memory than the Quadro FX 3700M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro K4000M also has superior memory performance overall.

The Quadro K4000M has 38.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro FX 3700M, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro K4000M is noticeably better than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Quadro K4000M has 960 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 3700M has 128. However, the actual shader performance of the Quadro K4000M is 577 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 3700M is 70. The Quadro K4000M having 507 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Quadro K4000M delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Quadro K4000M transistor size technology is 37 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro FX 3700M. This means that the Quadro K4000M is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro FX 3700M.

The Quadro K4000M requires 100 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 3700M requires 75 Watts. The Quadro K4000M requires 25 Watts more than the Quadro FX 3700M to run. The difference is not significant enough for the Quadro K4000M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Quadro FX 3700M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewQuadro K4000M is a high-end business card based on the 28nm, Kepler architecture.
Technically the successor to the previous Quadro 4000M, it's based on the Kepler GK104 (despite the SPU count) and offers 960 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs, on a 256-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 600MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 700MHz.
Quadro K4000M's drivers are certified for professional applications. Therefore, and also because it's underclocked, its performance lies closer to GeForce GTX 675M despite the similarities to GeForce GTX 675MX.
The Quadro® FX 3700M high-end mobile workstation graphics solution with its revolutionary unified architecture, delivers 1 GB memory, excellent image quality, and optimized visual computing application performance pushing the limits of a 17" mobile workstation. The reference standard for OpenGL 2.1, DirectX 10, and Shader Model 4.0, Quadro FX 3700M enables next generation applications with new levels of interactivity to meet the demands of CAD engineers, graphics designers, and other technical design professionals.
