In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel HD i5 3570k are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra.

The HD i5 3570k was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 6800 Ultra, and so the HD i5 3570k is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 6800 Ultra when running the latest games.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra has 256 MB video memory, but the HD i5 3570k does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The HD i5 3570k has 16 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 6800 Ultra has 22. However, the actual shader performance of the HD i5 3570k is 51 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra is 9. The HD i5 3570k having 42 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 6800 Ultra performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 124 Watts to run but there is no entry for the HD i5 3570k.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewHD i5 3570k is a specific version of the Intel HD 4000 Graphics that comes with the CPU 'Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz'.
The new features include DirectX 11 and Tessellation support. Using Tesselation might not be a very good idea since even strong fast-middle-class GPUs struggle with it.
The core-clock is initially set at 650MHz and will go to up to 1150MHz, if necessary.
The performance depends a lot on the driver support and benchmarks indicate that the most demanding games, such as Metro 2033 ran fluently from low to medium settings, while demanding modern games, such as Skyrim V might be playable at high settings, depending on the resolution used.
Benchmarks also indicate that the performance also depends a lot on the resolution used in a way FPS might go from 45 (1366x768) to less than 20 with 1680x1050. Therefore, the best resolution to use is 1366x768 or less.
The groundbreaking new NVIDIA GeForce 6800 graphics processing units (GPUs) and their revolutionary technologies power worlds where reality and fantasy meet; worlds in which new standards are set for visual realism and quality, performance, and video functionality. The GeForce 6800 GPUs deliver powerful, elegant graphics to drench your senses, immersing you in unparalleled worlds of visual effects for the ultimate PC experience.
