In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 5670 1GB DDR3 Sapphire Edition are very slightly better than the Nvidia Quadro FX 5600.

The HD 5670 was released over a year more recently than the Quadro FX 5600, and so the HD 5670 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro FX 5600.

The Quadro FX 5600 has 512 MB more video memory than the HD 5670, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro FX 5600 also has superior memory performance overall.

The Quadro FX 5600 has 51.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 5670, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro FX 5600 is much better than the HD 5670.

The Radeon HD 5670 1GB DDR3 Sapphire Edition has 400 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro FX 5600 has 128. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 5670 is 202 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro FX 5600 is 77. The HD 5670 having 125 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Quadro FX 5600 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The HD 5670 transistor size technology is 50 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Quadro FX 5600. This means that the HD 5670 is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Quadro FX 5600. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the HD 5670 should consume less power than the Quadro FX 5600.

The Radeon HD 5670 1GB DDR3 Sapphire Edition requires 64 Watts to run and the Quadro FX 5600 requires 171 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 5670 and a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the Quadro FX 5600. The Quadro FX 5600 requires 107 Watts more than the HD 5670 to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro FX 5600 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 5670.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 5670 1GB DDR3 Sapphire Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class Radeon HD 5670 which is part of the Radeon HD 5000 Series released by AMD in 2009/2008.
We did not identify any OC or relevant features and so the performance should be exactly like the standard Radeon HD 5670 equipped with DDR3.
Therefore, modern demanding games like Skyrim V can be played smoothly at high settings but not paired with image improving techniques, such as AA and Tesselation.
A revolutionary unified architecture, NVIDIA Quadro® FX 5600 and 4600 graphics boards deliver optimized application performance. Combining the industry's most advanced feature set, including largest frame buffers, with a C programming environment, Quadro solutions solve the most complex problems. The reference standard for Shader Model 4.0, Quadro FX 5600 and 4600 enables next generation applications with unprecedented image quality.
