In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel Q43 Express Chipset are significantly better than the Intel 82945G.
The Q43 Express Chipset was released over three years more recently than the 82945G, and so the Q43 Express Chipset is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the 82945G when running the latest games.
Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.
The 82945G and the Q43 Express Chipset have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The memory bandwidth of the 82945G and the Q43 Express Chipset are the same, which means the 82945G and the Q43 Express Chipset have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.
Both the 82945G and the Q43 Express Chipset have 0 Shader Processing Units. The two GPUs are based on different architectures, but deliver an equivalent shader performance. To compare, we must continue to look at the memory bandwidth, Texture and Pixel Rates. In this case, we sadly do not have enough data in this area to complete the comparison.

Mini Review | Intel 82945Gcomes embedded on the Pentium 4, Pentium D, Celeron D, Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Duo CPUs and features an Integrated GPU called Intel GMA 950. It only supports DirectX up to 9.0c so DirectX 10/11 games aren't (hardware) supported. The performance is quite bad and even very old games (before 2005) might require reduced settings. Today's games are, obviously, unplayable. | Intel Q43 Express Chipset comes embedded on the Intel Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo CPUS and features an Integrated GPU called Intel GMA X4500. Various Intel Chipsets come with the Intel GMA X4500 but this one (and the Q45) seem to deliver the best performance. However, due to its characteristics (e.g. Shared Memory) the performance is still very limited but might be enough to play today's games at low or medium settings excluding, however, very demanding games like Metro 2033 or The Witcher II, that are probably unplayable, even at the lowest settings. Note 1: Intel GMA X4500 does support DirectX 10 but even the most forgiving games might be unplayable due to the demand level. |
