In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 205 are significantly better than the Intel G43 Express Chipset.

The GeForce 205 was released over a year more recently than the G43 Express Chipset, and so the GeForce 205 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the G43 Express Chipset.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The GeForce 205 has 512 MB video memory, but the G43 Express Chipset does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The GeForce 205 has 8 Shader Processing Units but the G43 Express Chipset does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The G43 Express Chipset requires 24 Watts to run and the GeForce 205 requires 31 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce 205, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the G43 Express Chipset. The GeForce 205 requires 7 Watts more than the G43 Express Chipset to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce 205 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the G43 Express Chipset.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewIntel G43 Express Chipset comes embedded on the Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo CPUS and features an Integrated GPU called Intel GMA X4500.
Due to its characteristics (e.g. Shared Memory) the performance is very limited but might be enough to play today's games at low settings excluding, however, very demanding games like Metro 2033 or The Witcher II, that are unplayable, even at the lowest settings.
Overview
GeForce 205 is an OEM only, Entry-Level Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the Tesla Architecture.

Architecture
Tesla was NVIDIA's First Unified Shader Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GT218-200-B1 which has 1 Stream Multiprocessor activated and thus offers 8 Shader Processing Units, 4 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 589MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 512MB frame buffer of DDR2, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 400MHz.

Features
DirectX 10.1 Support (10.0 Hardware Default) and support for NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology, Dual-stream Hardware Acceleration, PhysX, CUDA, HybridPower and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 31W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for Power meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance considerably below a Radeon HD 4550, meaning even the older GeForce 9400 GT is much faster.
