In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro NVS 300 are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT.

The Quadro NVS 300 was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 6600 GT, and so the Quadro NVS 300 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 6600 GT when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The Quadro NVS 300 has 384 MB more video memory than the GeForce 6600 GT, so is likely to be slightly better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GeForce 6600 GT has 2.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro NVS 300, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce 6600 GT is marginally better than the Quadro NVS 300.

The Quadro NVS 300 has 16 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 6600 GT has 11. However, the actual shader performance of the Quadro NVS 300 is 22 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 6600 GT is 6. The Quadro NVS 300 having 16 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 6600 GT performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Quadro NVS 300 requires 18 Watts to run and the GeForce 6600 GT requires 48 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the Quadro NVS 300. The GeForce 6600 GT requires 30 Watts more than the Quadro NVS 300 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce 6600 GT to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Quadro NVS 300.
