In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6350 are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 4290.

However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon HD 6350 was released less than a year after the Radeon HD 4290, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

This means that the Radeon HD 6350 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Radeon HD 4290. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Radeon HD 6350 should consume less power than the Radeon HD 4290.

The Radeon HD 6350 requires 19 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 4290. We would recommend a PSU with at least 250 Watts for the Radeon HD 6350, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the Radeon HD 4290.

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 4290 (IGP) is an integrated GPU on the AMD 890GX Chipset.
It's based on the RS880D Core and offers 40 Shader Processing Units, 4 TMUs and 4 ROPs a 32-bit memory interface of either DDR2 (more commonly) or DDR3. The central unit runs, commonly, at up to 700MHz and the memory clock's operating speed depends on the system RAM's speed.
Radeon HD 4290's performance depends on the users system configuration which will define the operating memory clock's speed and on the desktop manufacturer which decides its central unit's speed.
Therefore, Radeon HD 4290, even if paired with DDR3 won't offer similar performance to the dedicated Radeon HD 4350. DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
Overview
Radeon HD 6350 is an entry-level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Terascale Architecture.

Architecture
Terascale was AMD's first Unified Shader Architecture. In addition to being manufactured with a 40nm Technology, against the 55nm of previous Graphics Cards, it supports DirectX 10 and the Shaders now called Shader Processing Units have been redesigned and do all the Graphical work of Pixel and Vertex Shaders.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Cedar PRO which has 1 Compute Units activated and thus offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit Operates at 650MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 512MB frame buffer of GDDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 800MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, Eyefinity, Stream Acceleration, PowerPlay and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 18W, it requires at least a 250W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is extremely limited and even the older GeForce GT 220 is still faster.
