In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 620 are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTO.

The GeForce GT 620 was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 7900 GTO, and so the GeForce GT 620 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 7900 GTO when running the latest games.

The GeForce GT 620 has 512 MB more video memory than the GeForce 7900 GTO, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GeForce 7900 GTO has 27.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 620, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce 7900 GTO is slightly better than the GeForce GT 620.

The GeForce GT 620 has 96 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 7900 GTO has 24. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 620 is 134 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 7900 GTO is 16. The GeForce GT 620 having 118 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 7900 GTO performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce GT 620 requires 49 Watts to run and the GeForce 7900 GTO requires 81 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce GT 620 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GeForce 7900 GTO. The GeForce 7900 GTO requires 32 Watts more than the GeForce GT 620 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce 7900 GTO may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GT 620.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 620 is an Entry-Level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Fermi GF108-100-KB-A1 which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 700MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 500MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 49W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance is somewhat better than Radeon HD 7470.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Celeron) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 620.
The NVIDIA GeForce 7 Series graphics processing units (GPUs) represent a significant leap forward in 3D graphics design, delivering the unparalleled horsepower and revolutionary technologies you need to tackle the latest games and video applications. The GeForce 7 Series GPUs deliver blazing frame rates and outstanding image quality so you can experience full-throttle graphics performance.
