In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 320M are significantly better than the AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5450.

The Radeon HD has a 225 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce 320M, but the GeForce 320M has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the Radeon HD. As a result, the GeForce 320M exhibits a 1.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the Radeon HD. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Radeon HD has a 225 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce 320M, but the GeForce 320M has 4 more Render Output Units than the Radeon HD. As a result, the GeForce 320M exhibits a 0.9 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the Radeon HD. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce 320M was released less than a year after the Radeon HD, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The Radeon HD has 1024 MB video memory, but the GeForce 320M does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The Mobility Radeon HD 5450 has 80 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 320M has 48. However, the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD is 27 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 320M is 45. The GeForce 320M having 18 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GeForce 320M delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the Radeon HD.

The Mobility Radeon HD 5450 requires 11 Watts to run and the GeForce 320M requires 23 Watts. The GeForce 320M requires 12 Watts more than the Radeon HD to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce 320M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Radeon HD.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewMobility Radeon HD 5450 is a entry-level GPU based on the 40nm, Terascale 2 architecture.
It's based on the Parks PRO Core and offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs, on 64-bit memory interface of standard GDDR3. The central unit runs at 675MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 800MHz. It consumes no more than 11 Watt.
Benchmarks indicate modern demanding games of 2007-2010, such as Crysis, BF2 and Metro 2033 were only playable at low settings smoothly, using a 1024x768 resolution. Therefore, today's modern demanding games should only be playable on the lowest preset, using a 1024x768 resolution and extremely demanding modern games such as Crysis 3 might not be playable at all.
Overview
GeForce 320M is an Integrated Mobile Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the Tesla Architecture.

Architecture
Tesla was NVIDIA's First Unified Shader Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Tesla MCP89 which has 4 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 48 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 450MHz.

Memory
The GPU also Shares the System's RAM which varies from laptop to laptop. Typically, the GPU reserves 256MB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on the at which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.

Features
DirectX 10.1 Support (10.0 Hardware Default) and support for NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology, Dual-stream Hardware Acceleration, PhysX, CUDA, HybridPower and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 14W, it may be used on very small notebooks.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance considerably above the desktop GeForce 210.
