In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 550 MHz higher core clock speed and 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2070. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 182.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 550 MHz higher core clock speed and 24 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2070. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 70.7 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2070 was released over three years more recently than the GTX 1080 Ti, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTX 1080 Ti when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 3072 MB more video memory than the RTX 2070, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 36.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2070, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is noticeably better than the RTX 2070.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB has 3584. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2070 is 2957 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is 7654. The GTX 1080 Ti having 4697 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RTX 2070.

The RTX 2070 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti. This means that the RTX 2070 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q requires 80 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The GTX 1080 Ti requires 140 Watts more than the RTX 2070 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2070.

Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 40 SM activated, offering 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 320 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU106 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q is clocked lower than the regular RTX 2070 Super Mobile version, leading to a slight reduction in game performance. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1215 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1440 MHz whereas this 2070 Super Max-Q has a clock speed of 930 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1155 MHz.
