In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5.
The RTX 2060 has a 225 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 40 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2060. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 18.6 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the RTX 2060. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The RTX 2060 has a 225 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 17 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2060. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 8.8 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the RTX 2060. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RTX 2070 was released over a year more recently than the RTX 2060, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the RTX 2060.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The RTX 2070 has 5120 MB more video memory than the RTX 2060, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2070 also has superior memory performance overall.
The RTX 2070 has 304 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2060, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2070 is massively better than the RTX 2060.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5 has 1920. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2070 is 3533 and the actual shader performance of the RTX 2060 is 3226. The RTX 2070 having 307 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2070 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RTX 2060.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile requires 115 Watts to run and the GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5 requires 150 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the RTX 2060, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The RTX 2060 requires 35 Watts more than the RTX 2070 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2060 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2070.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile card is a high-end RTX 20 Series graphics card for laptops and considered an enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing GPU architecture. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 40 SM activated, offering 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 320 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU106 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, leading to a slight reduction in game performance. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1605 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1770 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-115W the RTX 2070 Super Mobile is fairly power hungry and will significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GRTX 2070 Super Mobile is capable of resolutions all the way up to 4K (3840x2160) but is best suited for 1440p displays. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. | Overview GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5 is a mid-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card and considered a great price to performance graphics card based on the Turing architecture. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 does support real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106 which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs and 47 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1365 MHz and goes up to 1680 MHz, in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of slower GDDR5 memory compared to the GDDR6 model, running through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 14GHz effective. The limited video memory available means the RTX 2060 3GB will struggle at 1440p resolution. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with an 8-pin power connector. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920 x 1080. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. |
