In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 1030.
The GeForce GT 1030 has a 112 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 128 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce GT 1030. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 142.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce GT 1030. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GeForce GT 1030 has a 112 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 48 more Render Output Units than the GeForce GT 1030. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 53 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GeForce GT 1030. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RTX 2070 was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GT 1030, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GT 1030.
The RTX 2070 has 6144 MB more video memory than the GeForce GT 1030, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2070 also has superior memory performance overall.
The RTX 2070 has 416 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 1030, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2070 is massively better than the GeForce GT 1030.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 1030 has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2070 is 3533 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 1030 is 578. The RTX 2070 having 2955 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2070 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce GT 1030.
The RTX 2070 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce GT 1030. This means that the RTX 2070 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce GT 1030.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile requires 115 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 1030 requires 30 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce GT 1030, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The RTX 2070 requires 85 Watts more than the GeForce GT 1030 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2070 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GT 1030.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile card is a high-end RTX 20 Series graphics card for laptops and considered an enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing GPU architecture. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 40 SM activated, offering 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 320 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU106 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, leading to a slight reduction in game performance. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1605 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1770 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-115W the RTX 2070 Super Mobile is fairly power hungry and will significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GRTX 2070 Super Mobile is capable of resolutions all the way up to 4K (3840x2160) but is best suited for 1440p displays. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. | Overview GeForce GT 1030 2GB is a low-end 1000 series Nvidia graphics card based on the first revision of the Pascal architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Pascal architecture succeeds the Maxwell architecture. Manufactured with a 16nm technology, it has a large L2 Cache, which allows NVIDIA to produce graphics cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU The GT 1030 equips a GPU codenamed GP108 and offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 64-bit memory interface. The central unit runs at 1252MHz and goes up to 1506MHz, in Turbo Mode, while the memory clock operates at 1250MHz. Features DirectX 12.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 30W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power. Release Price The GeForce GT 1030 is a low end graphics card that focuses on games requiring minimum graphics performance. Consequently the GT 1030 will come with a budget price tag and will be available from as little as $79.99. |
