In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon RX 5300 are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7870 PCS+ Vortex II Edition.

The HD 7870 has a 150 MHz higher core clock speed but 8 fewer Texture Mapping Units than the Radeon RX 5300. The lower TMU count doesn't matter, though, as altogether the HD 7870 manages to provide 4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

Architecture
It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1536 shader processing units, 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1000MHz and goes up to 1900MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX 5300 comes with a 3GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 96-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 85W, it requires at least a 450W PSU.

Performance
The Radeon RX 5300 has been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2020. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this Radeon RX 5300 card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.
