In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB.

The RX 5500 XT has a 460 MHz higher core clock speed than the RX 580, but the RX 580 has 56 more Texture Mapping Units than the RX 5500 XT. As a result, the RX 580 exhibits a 29.9 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the RX 5500 XT. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RX 5500 XT has a 460 MHz higher core clock speed than the RX 580 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the RX 5500 XT providing 14.7 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RX 5500 XT was released over a year more recently than the RX 580, and so the RX 5500 XT is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the RX 580.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB and the Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The memory bandwidth of the Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB and the Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB are the same, which means the RX 5500 XT and the RX 580 have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.

The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB has 1408 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB has 2304. However, the actual shader performance of the RX 5500 XT is 1689 and the actual shader performance of the RX 580 is 3147. The RX 580 having 1458 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the RX 5500 XT performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The RX 5500 XT transistor size technology is 7 nm (nanometers) smaller than the RX 580. This means that the RX 5500 XT is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the RX 580.

The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB requires 110 Watts to run and the Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB requires 150 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the RX 5500 XT and a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the RX 580. The RX 580 requires 40 Watts more than the RX 5500 XT to run. The difference is significant enough that the RX 580 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RX 5500 XT.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB is an entry-level graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000 series. It was announced on October 7th, 2019 and released on December 12th, 2019.

Architecture
It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1408 shader processing units, 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1717 MHz and goes up to 1845 MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX 5500 XT 4GB comes with a 4GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 110W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 8-pin connector.

Performance
The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2020. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this RX 5500 XT 8GB card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

System Suggestions
The Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range R5 Ryzen processor and at least 12GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 5500 XT 4GB.
Overview
First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. The new AMD Radeon RX 500 series are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This HIS RX 580 IceQ X2 OC graphics card is one of the two more powerful models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

This RX 580 is the 4GB version and there is also the higher VRAM version, RX580 8GB available.

Architecture
It equips a GPU codenamed Polaris 20 XTX, which has 2304 shader processing units, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The Radeon RX 580 HIS IceQ X2 OC 4GB central processing unit runs at 1257MHz and goes up to a top 1366MHz when in boost and turbo mode, where as the reference RX 580 card's boost is a lower 1340MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock operates at 2000MHz.

Power Consumption
The RX 580 4GB has a power TDP requirement of 150W. This means it will require at least a 500W PSU with one dedicated 8-pin connector.

Performance
Early benchmarks indicate that the AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB will be similar in performance to the Nvidia GTX 1060 in terms of gaming performance. This puts the RX 580 4GB about 8% faster than the model it replaced, the AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB. Comparing the RX 580 to RX 570 we see 1440p frame rates around 8-15% better with the RX580 version

System Suggestions
The new HIS RX 580 IceQ X2 OC 4GB released on the 18th April 2017 and is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a high-end processor, like the new Ryzen R5 and at least 8GB of RAM for optimal gaming performance.
