In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Zotac AMP!.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 219 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080 Ti, but the RTX 2080 Ti has 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1080 Ti. As a result, the RTX 2080 Ti exhibits a 37.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1080 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 219 MHz higher core clock speed but 8 fewer Render Output Units than the RTX 2080 Ti. The lower ROP count doesn't matter, though, as altogether the GTX 1080 Ti manages to provide 8.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1080 Ti was released over three years more recently than the RTX 2080 Ti, and so the GTX 1080 Ti is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the RTX 2080 Ti when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2080 Ti has 1024 MB more video memory than the GTX 1080 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2080 Ti has 283.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 1080 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2080 Ti is massively better than the GTX 1080 Ti.

However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 Ti is 8156 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is 3824. The RTX 2080 Ti having 4332 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The RTX 2080 Ti transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti. This means that the RTX 2080 Ti is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super requires 280 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Zotac AMP! requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 650 Watts for the RTX 2080 Ti and a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti. The RTX 2080 Ti requires 60 Watts more than the GTX 1080 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 1080 Ti.

The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. GPU It is rumoured this equips a GPU Codenamed Turing TU102 which has 4608 Shader Processing Units, 288 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1350MHz and goes up to 1750MHz in Boost mode. It also has 576 Tensor Cores for AI purposes and 72 RT Cores for real-time ray-tracing. Memory The GPU accesses a 12GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 384-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 2000MHz, or 16GHz effective.
