In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 6490M are marginally better than the Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M.

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 6490M is an entry-level GPU based on the 40nm Terrascale 2 architecture.
It's based on the Caicos Core (therefore related to Radeon HD 6450) and offers 160 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs on a 64-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. Its central clock runs at up to 750MHz (800MHz if paired with DDR3) and the memory clock operates at 800MHz.
Despite being higher clocked than desktop Radeon HD 6450, it's expected to offer the same performance due to lower driver support.
Using a 720p resolution, almost all of today's games are only playable at low settings but with very fluent frame rates (40+).

Note 1: Radeon HD 6490M was later (2012) renamed and released as Radeon HD 7470M.
Note 2: There is also a DDR3 version of this card that has even lower bandwidth but comes higher clocked. Still, it's expected to perform considerably worse.
The Quadro line of GPU cards emerged in an effort at market segmentation by NVIDIA. In introducing Quadro, NVIDIA was able to charge a premium for essentially the same graphics hardware in professional markets, and direct resources to properly serve the needs of those markets. To differentiate their offerings, NVIDIA used driver software and firmware to enable features vital to segments of the workstation market; e.g., high performance anti-aliased lines and two-sided lighting were reserved for the Quadro product. In addition, improved support through a certified driver program was put in place. These features were of little value in the gaming markets that NVIDIA's products already sold to, but prevented high end customers from using the less expensive products. This practice continues even today although some products use higher capacity faster memory.
