In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB are noticeably better than the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB.

The RX 5500 XT has a 187 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1660. This results in the RX 5500 XT providing 85.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RX 5500 XT has a 187 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 1660, but the GTX 1660 has 16 more Render Output Units than the RX 5500 XT. As a result, the GTX 1660 exhibits a 18.5 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the RX 5500 XT. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1660 was released less than a year after the RX 5500 XT, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB is an entry-level graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000 series. It was announced on October 7th, 2019 and released on December 12th, 2019.

Architecture
It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1408 shader processing units, 88 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1717 MHz and goes up to 1845 MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX 5500 XT comes with an 8GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 130W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 8-pin connector.

Performance
The Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2019. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this RX 5500 XT 8GB card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.
