In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile.
The RX 5700 XT has a 645 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2060. This results in the RX 5700 XT providing 141.6 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The RX 5700 XT has a 645 MHz higher core clock speed and 17 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2060. This results in the RX 5700 XT providing 57.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RX 5700 XT was released less than a year after the RTX 2060, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The RX 5700 XT has 2048 MB more video memory than the RTX 2060, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RX 5700 XT also has superior memory performance overall.
The RX 5700 XT has 160 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2060, which means that the memory performance of the RX 5700 XT is massively better than the RTX 2060.
The Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile has 1920. However, the actual shader performance of the RX 5700 XT is 3170 and the actual shader performance of the RTX 2060 is 2304. The RX 5700 XT having 866 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RX 5700 XT delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RTX 2060.
The RX 5700 XT transistor size technology is 5 nm (nanometers) smaller than the RTX 2060. This means that the RX 5700 XT is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the RTX 2060.
The Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB requires 225 Watts to run and the GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile requires 90 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the RX 5700 XT. The RX 5700 XT requires 135 Watts more than the RTX 2060 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RX 5700 XT may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2060.

Mini Review | Overview The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB is an Enthusiast gaming Graphics Card based on the first (1.0) Revision of the RDNA Architecture. Architecture The Navi 10 XL GPU offers support for GDDR6 Memory, DirectX 12.0, Vulkan 1.0, and OpenGL 4.5. This variant of the Navi 10 XL GPU features 40 Compute Units activated, offering 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GPU features a 1605 MHz base clock speed and up to 1905 MHz with boost clock, making it an estimated 15% faster than a Radeon RX Vega 64. This puts its predicted performance roughly in line with the GeForce RTX 2080. GPU The Central Unit is clocked at 1605 MHz, rising to 1905 MHz with boost clock enabled. Memory: Speed The GPU is equipped with high-speed GDDR6 and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit memory interface, providing total memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Memory: Frame Buffer The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 8GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory. However, the GPU itself is aimed for 4K Gaming, In some limited scenarios, 8GB might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger, however this would only be an issue in the most demanding games. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 225W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with one available 8+6-pin connector. Performance The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB competes with GeForce RTX 2070 8GB, which is available for $599. Specs currently available suggest the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB performance should be in the same region as the GeForce RTX 2070. System Suggestions The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT XFX 8GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840 x2160 (4K). For the most demanding AAA games it should be ideally suited to 4K. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance. | Overview GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile is a mid-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card for laptops based on the Turing GPU architecture. It is considered a great price to performance graphics card. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile supports real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106 which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs and 47 ROPs. The central unit runs at 960 MHz and goes up to 1200 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-90W the RTX 2060 Mobile is averagely resource-intensive and will fairly significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2060 6GB Mobile is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. |
