In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Zotac AMP! are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB.

The RTX 2070 has a 36 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 1080 Ti, but the GTX 1080 Ti has 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2070. As a result, the GTX 1080 Ti exhibits a 94.7 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the RTX 2070. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RTX 2070 has a 36 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 1080 Ti, but the GTX 1080 Ti has 24 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2070. As a result, the GTX 1080 Ti exhibits a 35.4 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the RTX 2070. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2070 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1080 Ti, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1080 Ti.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 3072 MB more video memory than the RTX 2070, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 36.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2070, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is noticeably better than the RTX 2070.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Zotac AMP! has 1683. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2070 is 4531 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is 3824. The RTX 2070 having 707 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GTX 1080 Ti performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The RTX 2070 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti. This means that the RTX 2070 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1080 Ti. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the RTX 2070 should consume less power than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB requires 175 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Zotac AMP! requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the RTX 2070 and a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti. The GTX 1080 Ti requires 45 Watts more than the RTX 2070 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1080 Ti may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2070.
