In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 1030.

The GTX 1660 has a 278 MHz higher core clock speed and 56 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce GT 1030. This results in the GTX 1660 providing 94.5 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1660 has a 278 MHz higher core clock speed and 32 more Render Output Units than the GeForce GT 1030. This results in the GTX 1660 providing 53.4 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1660 was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GT 1030, and so the GTX 1660 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GT 1030.

The GTX 1660 has 4096 MB more video memory than the GeForce GT 1030, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1660 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 1660 has 160.1 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 1030, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1660 is massively better than the GeForce GT 1030.

The GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB has 1408 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 1030 has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 1660 is 2598 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 1030 is 578. The GTX 1660 having 2020 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1660 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce GT 1030.

The GTX 1660 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce GT 1030. This means that the GTX 1660 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce GT 1030.

The GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB requires 130 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 1030 requires 30 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the GTX 1660 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce GT 1030. The GTX 1660 requires 100 Watts more than the GeForce GT 1030 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1660 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GT 1030.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
The GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB is an entry to mid-level Nvidia graphics card which launched on March 14th, 2019. The GeForce GTX 1660 is designed to compete against AMD's more affordable gaming cards such as the RX 570 and the RX 580, and replaces the outgoing GTX 1060. The GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB is a dual-slot graphics card with a dual-fan Torx Fan 2.0 cooling solution, Zero Frozr, custom PCB and solid anti-bend backplate. This graphics card has above average overclocking potential.

Architecture
The Turing GPU architecture aims for 30-50% as much performance as the previous-gen Pascal Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Turing TU116, more specifically the TU166-300-A1, which has 22 SM activated and thus 1408 Shader Processing Units, 88 TMUs, and 48 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1530 MHz and goes up to 1845 MHz with the Boost Clock, providing a small 3% overclock versus the reference model.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5 through a 192-bit memory interface, while the memory clock Operates at 2001MHz, or 8GHz effective.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 130W, this graphics card requires one 8-pin power connector and a minimum of a 450W power supply.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1660 will enable medium to high graphics performance on modern AAA 2018 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on High graphics settings at 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will have slightly faster performance than the GTX 1060.

System Suggestions
The GeForce GTX 1660 MSI Armor OC 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440, so our recommendation would be to use 1920x1080 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-8500 and 12GB of RAM for optimal performance.
Overview GeForce GT 1030 2GB is a low-end 1000 series Nvidia graphics card based on the first revision of the Pascal architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Pascal architecture succeeds the Maxwell architecture. Manufactured with a 16nm technology, it has a large L2 Cache, which allows NVIDIA to produce graphics cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU The GT 1030 equips a GPU codenamed GP108 and offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 64-bit memory interface. The central unit runs at 1252MHz and goes up to 1506MHz, in Turbo Mode, while the memory clock operates at 1250MHz. Features DirectX 12.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 30W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power. Release Price The GeForce GT 1030 is a low end graphics card that focuses on games requiring minimum graphics performance. Consequently the GT 1030 will come with a budget price tag and will be available from as little as $79.99.
