In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile.
The GTX 1080 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2080. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 77.6 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 1080 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and 24 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2080. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 41.9 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RTX 2080 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1080 Ti, and so the RTX 2080 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1080 Ti.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The GTX 1080 Ti has 3072 MB more video memory than the RTX 2080, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.
The GTX 1080 Ti has 36.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2080, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is noticeably better than the RTX 2080.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile has 2944 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB has 3584. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 is 4681 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is 7654. The GTX 1080 Ti having 2973 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RTX 2080.
The RTX 2080 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti. This means that the RTX 2080 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1080 Ti.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile requires 150 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2080. The GTX 1080 Ti requires 70 Watts more than the RTX 2080 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2080.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile card is the top RTX 20 Series graphics card for laptops and considered an enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing GPU architecture. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 46 SM activated, offering 2944 Shader Processing Units, 184 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 368 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU104 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2080 Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, caused decreased performances. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1380 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1590 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-150W the RTX 2080 Mobile is fairly power hungry and will significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GRTX 2080Mobile is best suited for resolutions all the way up to 3840x2160. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. | Overview The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB is a High-End Graphics Card based on the Pascal Architecture. Architecture It equips a GPU Codenamed P102, which is a first gen Pascal GPU and has 28 SM units activated, offering 3584 shader processing units, 224 TMUs and 88 ROPs. GPU The central unit runs at 1480MHz and goes up to 1582MHz in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses an 11GB frame buffer of Fast GDDR5X memory, through 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 1376MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 220W, it requires at least a 550W PSU with available 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors. Performance The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kuroutoshikou Founders Edition 11GB performance is capable of 2017 AAA gaming at high graphics settings across all games. This GPU will deliver strong frame rates at 4K on any game at high graphics levels. System Suggestions GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160 (4K). We recommend a High-End Processor and 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance. |
