In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Asus ROG Strix A8G Gaming 8GB are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5.

The GTX 1080 has a 306 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2060. This results in the GTX 1080 providing 103.6 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 does support real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106 which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs and 47 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1365 MHz and goes up to 1680 MHz, in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of slower GDDR5 memory compared to the GDDR6 model, running through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with an 8-pin power connector.
