In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra are very slightly better than the Nvidia Quadro NVS 315.

The Quadro NVS 315 was released over three years more recently than the GeForce 6800 Ultra, and so the Quadro NVS 315 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce 6800 Ultra when running the latest games.

The Quadro NVS 315 has 768 MB more video memory than the GeForce 6800 Ultra, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra has 21.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Quadro NVS 315, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra is slightly better than the Quadro NVS 315.

The Quadro NVS 315 has 48 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 6800 Ultra has 22. However, the actual shader performance of the Quadro NVS 315 is 26 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra is 9. The Quadro NVS 315 having 17 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce 6800 Ultra performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Quadro NVS 315 requires 20 Watts to run and the GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 124 Watts. The GeForce 6800 Ultra requires 104 Watts more than the Quadro NVS 315 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce 6800 Ultra may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Quadro NVS 315.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewQuadro NVS 315 is a professional Graphics Card certified for professional applications.
Its drivers are not optimized for gaming purposes but rather for the use of professional applications. Its core, the Fermi GF119-825-A1, is used on the GeForce 510 and therefore its performance is comparable but only slightly better, due to not benefiting from the gaming optimizations the GeForce 510 does. The Quadro NVS 315 is now an old, low-end graphics cards and will struggle to run most modern games.
The groundbreaking new NVIDIA GeForce 6800 graphics processing units (GPUs) and their revolutionary technologies power worlds where reality and fantasy meet; worlds in which new standards are set for visual realism and quality, performance, and video functionality. The GeForce 6800 GPUs deliver powerful, elegant graphics to drench your senses, immersing you in unparalleled worlds of visual effects for the ultimate PC experience.
