In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 MSI Gaming 2GB Edition.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 960, but the GTX 960 has 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050 Ti. As a result, the GTX 960 exhibits a 14.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 960 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 1050 Ti providing 3.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1050 Ti was released over a year more recently than the GTX 960, and so the GTX 1050 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 960.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 1050 Ti has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 960, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the GTX 960 has superior memory performance.

However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 1050 Ti is 1443 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 960 is 1732. The GTX 960 having 289 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GTX 1050 Ti performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GTX 1050 Ti transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 960. This means that the GTX 1050 Ti is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 960.

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB requires 75 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 960 MSI Gaming 2GB Edition requires 120 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050 Ti and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 960. The GTX 960 requires 45 Watts more than the GTX 1050 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 960 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 1050 Ti.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is one of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1290MHz and goes up to 1392MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
The GTX 1050 Ti will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 55+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
