In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 8GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB.

The GTX 1070 has a 544 MHz higher core clock speed and 24 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 960 Ti. This results in the GTX 1070 providing 90.5 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1070 has a 544 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 960 Ti and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 1070 providing 34.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1070 was released less than a year after the GTX 960 Ti, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 1070 has 6144 MB more video memory than the GTX 960 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1070 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 1070 has 31.9 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 960 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1070 is noticeably better than the GTX 960 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 1070 EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 8GB Edition has 1920 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 1070 is 4624 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 960 Ti is 1809. The GTX 1070 having 2815 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1070 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 960 Ti.

The GTX 1070 transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 960 Ti. This means that the GTX 1070 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 960 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 1070 EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 8GB Edition requires 180 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB requires 140 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the GTX 1070 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the GTX 960 Ti. The GTX 1070 requires 40 Watts more than the GTX 960 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1070 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 960 Ti.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GTX 1070 EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 8GB Edition is a Special Edition of NVIDIA's High-End GeForce GTX 1070, created by EVGA.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit has been increased from 1506MHz to 1594MHz, whereas the Boost Clock can now achieve 1784MHz, instead of 1683MHz.

Overclock: Memory Clock
None.

Frame Buffer
Untouched.

Cooling Solution
EVGA ACX 3.0 once again brings new and exciting features to the award winning EVGA ACX cooling technology. SHP 2.0 gives increased heatpipes and copper contact area for cooler operation, and optimized fan curve for even quieter gaming.

Performance
At 1920x1080, Benchmarks Indicate a 2% Performance Boost over the Reference GeForce GTX 1070. This goes up to 6% at 3840x2160.
Overview
GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB is an upcoming high-end Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM204-200-KD which has 12 SM activated and thus offers 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The central unit runs at ????MHz and goes up to ????MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1753MHz.

Features
DirectX 12.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 140W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
Coming Soon!

System Suggestions
We recommend a very strong processor (Intel Core i5 Quad Core/AMD FX Eight Core) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB.
