In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 710 v2 are noticeably better than the AMD Radeon HD 3800 series.

The HD 3800 has no core clock speed set, so any comparison between Texture and Pixel Fill Rates is not currently possible.

The GT 710 was released over three years more recently than the HD 3800, and so the GT 710 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 3800 when running the latest games.

The GT 710 has 1536 MB more video memory than the HD 3800, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GT 710 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GT 710 has 14.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 3800, which means that the memory performance of the GT 710 is slightly better than the HD 3800.

The GeForce GT 710 v2 has 192 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 3800 series has 320. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 710 is 183 and the actual shader performance of the HD 3800 is 0. The GT 710 having 183 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GT 710 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 3800.

The GT 710 transistor size technology is 27 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 3800. This means that the GT 710 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 3800.

The GeForce GT 710 v2 requires 19 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 3800 series. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 710.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 720 v2 is a Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
This Graphics Card Equips the Kepler GK208 GPU which is essentially a power optimized version of the GK107 GPU. Whereas it still has a count of 2 Stream Multiprocessors, the bus-width has been cut in half to allow for even a smaller power consumption and consequently a cooler operating temperature.
Additionally, the GK208 GPU allows the Central Unit to reach a significant higher frequency, thanks to the Kepler Boost 2.0 Technology. The better the laptop's cooling system, the higher the frequency.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GK208 which has 1 Stream Multiprocessor activated and thus offers 192 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 954MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 19W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
GeForce GT 720 v2 is essentially a Higher Clocked GeForce GT 630 v4 and performs around 5% better than it.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Budget Processor and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 720 v2.
Radeon HD 3800 Series is not a GPU but instead a combination between Radeon HD 3830, Radeon HD 3850 and Radeon HD 3870 whose rank is a balance between the three and that exists for System Requirements purposes only.
