In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition are noticeably better than the Intel HD i5 6500T.

The GT 640 has a 696 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD i5 6500T. This results in the GT 640 providing 11.1 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GT 640 has a 696 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD i5 6500T and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GT 640 providing 5.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD i5 6500T was released over a year more recently than the GT 640, and so the HD i5 6500T is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GT 640.

The GT 640 has 2048 MB video memory, but the HD i5 6500T does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The HD i5 6500T has 24 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the HD i5 6500T is 211 and the actual shader performance of the GT 640 is 402. The GT 640 having 191 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GT 640 delivers a slightly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD i5 6500T.

The HD i5 6500T transistor size technology is 14 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GT 640. This means that the HD i5 6500T is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GT 640.

The HD i5 6500T requires 35 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition requires 49 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD i5 6500T and a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the GT 640. The GT 640 requires 14 Watts more than the HD i5 6500T to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GT 640 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the HD i5 6500T.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Intel HD i5 6500T is the specific version of Intel HD Graphics 530 Desktop that is integrated in the Core i5-6500T Processor.

Architecture
The Skylake Core includes support for DirectX 12.1, OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL 4.4. Additionally, it also supports DDR4 Memory.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GT2-R0 which offers 24 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 350MHz and goes up to 1100MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from laptop to laptop. Typically, the GPU reserves 1.7GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on the at which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 1067MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance almost on level with a dedicated GeForce 920M.

System Suggestions
Intel HD i5 6500T is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1366x768. We recommend a Decent Processor and 4GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Overview
GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Middle-Class GeForce GT 640 v3, created by Zotac.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer remain the same.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System has been replaced by Zotac's Silent Cooling Solution.

Performance
Without Overclocking Out of The Box, GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GT 640 v3.
