In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 3850 X3 are noticeably better than the Intel HD i5 6500T.

The HD 3850 has a 319 MHz higher core clock speed and 32 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD i5 6500T. This results in the HD 3850 providing 26.5 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 3850 has a 319 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Render Output Units than the HD i5 6500T. This results in the HD 3850 providing 29.3 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD i5 6500T was released over three years more recently than the HD 3850, and so the HD i5 6500T is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 3850 when running the latest games.

The HD 3850 has 1536 MB video memory, but the HD i5 6500T does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The HD i5 6500T has 24 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 3850 X3 has 960. However, the actual shader performance of the HD i5 6500T is 211 and the actual shader performance of the HD 3850 is 642. The HD 3850 having 431 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 3850 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD i5 6500T.

The HD i5 6500T transistor size technology is 41 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 3850. This means that the HD i5 6500T is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 3850.

The HD i5 6500T requires 35 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 3850 X3 requires 145 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD i5 6500T. The HD 3850 requires 110 Watts more than the HD i5 6500T to run. The difference is significant enough that the HD 3850 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD i5 6500T.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Intel HD i5 6500T is the specific version of Intel HD Graphics 530 Desktop that is integrated in the Core i5-6500T Processor.

Architecture
The Skylake Core includes support for DirectX 12.1, OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL 4.4. Additionally, it also supports DDR4 Memory.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GT2-R0 which offers 24 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 350MHz and goes up to 1100MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from laptop to laptop. Typically, the GPU reserves 1.7GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on the at which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 1067MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance almost on level with a dedicated GeForce 920M.

System Suggestions
Intel HD i5 6500T is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1366x768. We recommend a Decent Processor and 4GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Radeon HD 3850 X3 (not Crossfire) is a triple-graphics solution of three Radeon HD 3850.
This combination, also known as Radeon HD 3850 Trinity, is expected to offer almost the same performance as Radeon HD 3850 3-Way-Crossfired while consuming slightly less power. However, and just like Crossfire, its performance also relies a lot on proper driver support.
Some of today's modern demanding games might be playable using the high preset but most will require reduced settings. However, DirectX 11 games aren't supported.
