In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 4GB Edition are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition.

The GTX 750 Ti has a 89 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 550 Ti. This results in the GTX 750 Ti providing 11.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 750 Ti has a 89 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 550 Ti, but the GTX 550 Ti has 8 more Render Output Units than the GTX 750 Ti. As a result, the GTX 550 Ti exhibits a 6.4 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 750 Ti. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 750 Ti was released over three years more recently than the GTX 550 Ti, and so the GTX 750 Ti is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTX 550 Ti when running the latest games.

The GTX 750 Ti has 3072 MB more video memory than the GTX 550 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.

The GTX 550 Ti has 12 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 750 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 550 Ti is slightly better than the GTX 750 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 4GB Edition has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition has 192. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 750 Ti is 982 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 550 Ti is 372. The GTX 750 Ti having 610 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 750 Ti delivers a slightly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 550 Ti.

The GTX 750 Ti transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 550 Ti. This means that the GTX 750 Ti is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 550 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 4GB Edition requires 75 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 750 Ti and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 550 Ti. The two GPUs have been recommended a PSU with the same amount of wattage. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gigabyte WindForce 2X OC 4GB Edition is a Special Edition of NVIDIA's Fast-Middle-Class GeForce GTX 750 Ti, created by Gigabyte.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit now runs at 1059MHz, instead of 1020MHz and goes up to 1137MHz, instead of 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Overclock: Memory Clock
None.

Frame Buffer
The Frame Buffer was doubled to 4GB. This would prove useful in a few circumstances because some modern 3D Games require 4GB of Memory for Textures.
However, because the GPU itself is too weak to work under other circumstances in which 4GB of Memory are needed - such as 1600p Gaming, a Larger Frame Buffer is mostly a Gimmick.

Cooling Solution
WINDFORCE 2X Cooling System.

Performance
Benchmarks Indicate a 3% Performance Boost over the Reference GeForce GTX 750 Ti.
GeForce GTX 550 Ti WindForce Edition is a special edition of the upper-middle-class GeForce GTX 550 Ti. See the standard edition's page for more information.
The new features include an increase in the clock from 900MHz to 970MHz and a new cooling system.
Benchmarks indicate a 4.5% performance boost when compared to the reference card..
Some modern demanding games will run at the highest settings using a 1080p resolution but the largest part will have to be played with a 720p resolution to be played optimally.
This Graphics Card needs to be paired with a decent Quad Core CPU.
