In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel HD Pentium G4520 are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition.

The HD 6670 has a 450 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD Pentium G4520. This results in the HD 6670 providing 13.6 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 6670 has a 450 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD Pentium G4520 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the HD 6670 providing 3.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD Pentium G4520 was released over three years more recently than the HD 6670, and so the HD Pentium G4520 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 6670 when running the latest games.

The HD 6670 has 2048 MB video memory, but the HD Pentium G4520 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The HD Pentium G4520 has 24 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition has 480. However, the actual shader performance of the HD Pentium G4520 is 202 and the actual shader performance of the HD 6670 is 192. The HD Pentium G4520 having 10 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD Pentium G4520 delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 6670.

The HD Pentium G4520 transistor size technology is 26 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 6670. This means that the HD Pentium G4520 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 6670. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the HD Pentium G4520 should consume less power than the HD 6670.

The HD Pentium G4520 requires 47 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition requires 66 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the HD Pentium G4520 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 6670. The HD 6670 requires 19 Watts more than the HD Pentium G4520 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the HD 6670 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the HD Pentium G4520.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Intel HD Pentium G4520 is the specific version of Intel HD Graphics 530 Desktop that is integrated in the Pentium G4520 Processor.

The Skylake Core includes support for DirectX 12.1, OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL 4.4. Additionally, it also supports DDR4 Memory.

It equips a GPU Codenamed GT2 which offers 24 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 350MHz and goes up to 1050MHz, in Turbo Mode.

The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from laptop to laptop. Typically, the GPU reserves 1.7GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on the at which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 1067MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.

Gaming benchmarks put its performance almost on level with a dedicated GeForce 920M.

System Suggestions
Intel HD Pentium G4520 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1366x768. We recommend a Decent Processor and 4GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition is a special edition of AMD's fast-middle-class Radeon HD 6670 v2, created by MSI.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock runs at 667MHz and the Frame Buffer was raised to 2GB. This is a gimmick and in no way benefits the GPU.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System remains the same.

Without Overclocking Out of The Box, Radeon HD 6670 v2 MSI 2GB Edition is as fast as the reference Radeon HD 6670 v2.
