In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4GB are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M.
The GeForce GTX 770M has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed than the R9 M395X, but the R9 M395X has 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce GTX 770M. As a result, the R9 M395X exhibits a 27.6 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce GTX 770M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GeForce GTX 770M has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed than the R9 M395X, but the R9 M395X has 8 more Render Output Units than the GeForce GTX 770M. As a result, the R9 M395X exhibits a 3.6 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GeForce GTX 770M. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The R9 M395X was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GTX 770M, and so the R9 M395X is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GTX 770M.
The R9 M395X has 1024 MB more video memory than the GeForce GTX 770M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the R9 M395X also has superior memory performance overall.
The R9 M395X has 63.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GTX 770M, which means that the memory performance of the R9 M395X is much better than the GeForce GTX 770M.
The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB has 2048 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770M has 960. However, the actual shader performance of the R9 M395X is 1259 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTX 770M is 779. The R9 M395X having 480 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the R9 M395X delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce GTX 770M.
The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB requires 125 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 770M requires 75 Watts. The R9 M395X requires 50 Watts more than the GeForce GTX 770M to run. The difference is significant enough that the R9 M395X may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce GTX 770M.

Mini Review | Overview Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture (CGN). Architecture Radeon R9 M395X 4GB Features a GPU Codenamed Amethyst XT which is a Third Gen GCN GPU and is identical to the Tonga XT GPU used on the Desktop Radeon R9 380X. Amethyst XT has 32 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 2048 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs. GPU The Central Unit is Clocked at 723MHz. Memory: Speed The GPU is equipped with fast GDDR5 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz. Memory: Frame Buffer The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 4GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory. However, because the GPU itself is too weak to work under other circumstances in which 4GB of Memory are needed - such as 4K Gaming, a Large Frame Buffer is mostly a Gimmick. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 125W, it is suited for very large laptops. Performance Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon R9 M295X 4GB. Performance is Comparable to the desktop Radeon R9 280. Therefore, even GeForce GTX 970M is still faster. System Suggestions Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance. | Overview GeForce GTX 770M is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture. Architecture The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs. Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed Kepler GK106-N14E-GS-A1 which has 5 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 960 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 24 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 811MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1002MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Kepler Boost, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 75W, it is suited for large laptops. Performance GeForce GTX 770M is essentially a fast GeForce GTX 675MX. Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is slightly better than the older GeForce GTX 675MX. System Suggestions We recommend a Powerful Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 770M. |
