In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 SLI are noticeably better than the AMD Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire.

The GTX 770 has a 196 MHz higher core clock speed and 32 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 7950. This results in the GTX 770 providing 77.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 196 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 7950 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 770 providing 12.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 770 was released less than a year after the HD 7950, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The HD 7950 has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 770, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the HD 7950 also has superior memory performance overall.

The HD 7950 has 31.5 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 770, which means that the memory performance of the HD 7950 is noticeably better than the GTX 770.

The Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire has 3584 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770 SLI has 3072. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 7950 is 2818 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 3333. The GTX 770 having 515 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770 delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 7950.

The GeForce GTX 770 SLI requires 400 Watts to run but there is no entry for the HD 7950. We would recommend a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the GTX 770, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the HD 7950.

Mini ReviewThe Crossfire setup of Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition.GeForce GTX 770 SLI is a combination of 2 GeForce GTX 770 put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.
Together, this combination offers 3072 Shader Processing Units, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs. This, on a 256-bit memory interface, per card, of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 1046MHz and goes up to 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1752MHz.
Best case scenario, this combination performs better than dual-graphics GeForce GTX 690 but ultimately, its performance depends on the driver support and on the 3D application.
Therefore, and paired with a powerful processor, all demanding games are playable at the highest settings. Still, this combination might surpass the 450W barrier of TDP and so it will require a very powerful PSU.
