In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition.

The GTX 770 has a 59 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 980 Ti, but the GTX 980 Ti has 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 770. As a result, the GTX 980 Ti exhibits a 40.4 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 770. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 59 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 980 Ti, but the GTX 980 Ti has 64 more Render Output Units than the GTX 770. As a result, the GTX 980 Ti exhibits a 62.1 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 770. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 980 Ti was released over a year more recently than the GTX 770, and so the GTX 980 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 770.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 980 Ti has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 770, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 980 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 980 Ti has 112.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 770, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 980 Ti is massively better than the GTX 770.

The GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB has 2816 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 980 Ti is 4091 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 1706. The GTX 980 Ti having 2385 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 980 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 770.

The GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB requires 250 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition requires 230 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 980 Ti and a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 770. The GTX 980 Ti requires 20 Watts more than the GTX 770 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GTX 980 Ti to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GTX 770.

GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB is an Enthusiast Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The Second variant of the Maxwell Architecture, despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, has an extremely large L2 Cache and features a Third Generation Delta Color Compression which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.
The Second Revision of Maxwell also adds VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination) which makes scenes significantly more lifelike and believable as light interacts more realistically in the game environment and the MFAA technology which provides the same effect as MSAA but at a much lower performance cost.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM200-310-A1 which has 22 SM activated and thus 2816 Shader Processing Units, 176 TMUs and 96 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1000MHz and goes up to 1076MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 384-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1753MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 250W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with one available 6-pin and one available 8-pin connectors.

Performance
Benchmarks Indicate its performance is slightly above AMD's Dual Radeon R9 295X2 at 1920x1080 but at any resolution above that, the latter proves to be faster.
As expected, $999 GeForce GTX Titan X is also slightly faster but GeForce GTX 980 is beaten in around 20%.
Even so, GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB is not a competitive product because a solution of two GeForce GTX 970 in SLI is still much faster and doesn't come at a much higher cost ($658 against $649).

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1600. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
GeForce GTX 770 PNY Enthusiast 4GB OC Edition is a special edition of GeForce GTX 770.
This edition comes with a custom dual fan cooling solution which by itself should allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 770 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 1046MHz to 1059MHz while its boost clock is now of 1111MHz and its frame buffer was doubled to 4GB, which will prove useless. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 4% performance boost when compared to the reference card.
