In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 8850M v2 are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce 920M 2GB.

The GeForce 920M 2GB has a 50 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 8850M, but the HD 8850M has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce 920M 2GB. As a result, the HD 8850M exhibits a 2.6 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce 920M 2GB. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GeForce 920M 2GB has a 50 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 8850M, but the HD 8850M has 8 more Render Output Units than the GeForce 920M 2GB. As a result, the HD 8850M exhibits a 3.8 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GeForce 920M 2GB. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce 920M 2GB was released over a year more recently than the HD 8850M, and so the GeForce 920M 2GB is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 8850M.

The GeForce 920M 2GB and the Radeon HD 8850M v2 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The HD 8850M has 57.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 920M 2GB, which means that the memory performance of the HD 8850M is much better than the GeForce 920M 2GB.

The GeForce 920M 2GB has 384 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 8850M v2 has 640. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce 920M 2GB is 366 and the actual shader performance of the HD 8850M is 464. The HD 8850M having 98 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 8850M delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GeForce 920M 2GB.

The GeForce 920M 2GB requires 25 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 8850M v2 requires 45 Watts. The HD 8850M requires 20 Watts more than the GeForce 920M 2GB to run. The difference is not significant enough for the HD 8850M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GeForce 920M 2GB.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce 920M 2GB is an Entry-Level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
This Graphics Card Equips the Kepler GK208 GPU which is essentially a power optimized version of the GK107 GPU. Whereas it still has a count of 2 Stream Multiprocessors, the bus-width has been cut in half to allow for even a smaller power consumption and consequently a cooler operating temperature.
Additionally, the GK208 GPU allows the Central Unit to reach a significant higher frequency, thanks to the Kepler Boost 2.0 Technology. The better the laptop's cooling system, the higher the frequency.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GK208-N16V-GM which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is Initially clocked at 575MHz and goes up to 954MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 25W, it is suited for small laptops.

Performance
GeForce 920M 2GB is essentially a slightly faster GeForce GT 735M and offers more or less comparable performance.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Modest Processor and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 920M 2GB.
Overview
Radeon HD 8850M v2 is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the GCN Architecture.

Architecture
The GCN 1.1 Release adds support for AMD's TrueAudio Technology which does calculations of audio effects "better" than the CPU and further improves the Powertune Technology.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Venus PRO which has 10 Compute Units activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Operates at 525MHz and goes up to 725MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The memory clock operates at 1125MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, PowerTune Technology, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, HD3D, ZeroCore Power and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 45W, it is suited for 17" or larger laptops.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance on average with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 660M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Decent Processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with Radeon HD 8850M v2.
