In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 645M are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce 920M 2GB.
The GeForce GT 645M has a 135 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the GeForce 920M 2GB. This results in the GeForce GT 645M providing 4.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GeForce GT 645M has a 135 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Render Output Units than the GeForce 920M 2GB. This results in the GeForce GT 645M providing 6.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GeForce 920M 2GB was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GT 645M, and so the GeForce 920M 2GB is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GT 645M.
The GeForce 920M 2GB and the GeForce GT 645M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The GeForce GT 645M has 14.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 920M 2GB, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GT 645M is slightly better than the GeForce 920M 2GB.
Both the GeForce 920M 2GB and the GeForce GT 645M have 384 Shader Processing Units. While the two GPUs have the same number of SPUs, the actual performance delivered by the GeForce 920M 2GB is 366 and by the GeForce GT 645M is 273. Knowing that the shader performance of the GeForce 920M 2GB is superior, it is not necessary to examine the GPUs' respective Texture and Pixel Fill Rates.
The GeForce 920M 2GB requires 25 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 645M requires 32 Watts. The GeForce GT 645M requires 7 Watts more than the GeForce 920M 2GB to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce GT 645M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GeForce 920M 2GB.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce 920M 2GB is an Entry-Level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Kepler Architecture. Architecture This Graphics Card Equips the Kepler GK208 GPU which is essentially a power optimized version of the GK107 GPU. Whereas it still has a count of 2 Stream Multiprocessors, the bus-width has been cut in half to allow for even a smaller power consumption and consequently a cooler operating temperature. Additionally, the GK208 GPU allows the Central Unit to reach a significant higher frequency, thanks to the Kepler Boost 2.0 Technology. The better the laptop's cooling system, the higher the frequency. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GK208-N16V-GM which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is Initially clocked at 575MHz and goes up to 954MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 25W, it is suited for small laptops. Performance GeForce 920M 2GB is essentially a slightly faster GeForce GT 735M and offers more or less comparable performance. System Suggestions We recommend a Modest Processor and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 920M 2GB. | Overview GeForce GT 645M is a Fast-Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture. Architecture The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs. Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GK107 which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 710MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 32W, it is suited for small laptops. Performance Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance stands somewhere between GeForce GT 640M & GeForce GT 650M. System Suggestions We recommend a decent processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 645M. |
