In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition are marginally better than the AMD Radeon R7 7700K.

The GT 640 has a 326 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon R7 7700K, but the Radeon R7 7700K has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 640. As a result, the Radeon R7 7700K exhibits a 0.6 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GT 640. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GT 640 has a 326 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon R7 7700K and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GT 640 providing 2.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon R7 7700K was released less than a year after the GT 640, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GT 640 has 2048 MB video memory, but the Radeon R7 7700K does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

Both the GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition and the Radeon R7 7700K have 384 Shader Processing Units. While the two GPUs have the same number of SPUs, the actual performance delivered by the GT 640 is 402 and by the Radeon R7 7700K is 209. Knowing that the shader performance of the GT 640 is superior, it is not necessary to examine the GPUs' respective Texture and Pixel Fill Rates.

The GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition requires 49 Watts to run and the Radeon R7 7700K requires 95 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 350 Watts for the GT 640. The Radeon R7 7700K requires 46 Watts more than the GT 640 to run. The difference is significant enough that the Radeon R7 7700K may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GT 640.

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Middle-Class GeForce GT 640 v3, created by Zotac.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer remain the same.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System has been replaced by Zotac's Silent Cooling Solution.

Performance
Without Overclocking Out of The Box, GeForce GT 640 v3 Zotac 2GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GT 640 v3.
Radeon R7 7700K is an integrated Graphics Card in the A10-7700K.
It is based on the Graphics Core Next Architecture and offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The memory bus-width will depend on whether or not the system's RAM is dual-channeled and the operating memory clock, on its frequency. Thus, it can be either 64-bit or 128-bit and up to 1067MHz.
Therefore, the Graphics Card's performance depends a lot on the system configuration. Best case scenario, expect similiar to Intel's powerful Iris Pro Graphics 5200 and not far from Radeon R7 7850K.
The card is thus suited for 720p gaming and most modern demanding games can be played at least on medium settings.
