In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 4670 1GB are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition.

The GT 430 has a 35 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 4670, but the HD 4670 has 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 430. As a result, the HD 4670 exhibits a 11.4 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GT 430. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GT 430 has a 35 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 4670, but the HD 4670 has 4 more Render Output Units than the GT 430. As a result, the HD 4670 exhibits a 2.9 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GT 430. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GT 430 was released over a year more recently than the HD 4670, and so the GT 430 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 4670.

The Radeon HD 4670 1GB and the GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GT 430 has 6.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 4670, which means that the memory performance of the GT 430 is marginally better than the HD 4670.

The Radeon HD 4670 1GB has 320 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition has 96. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 4670 is 168 and the actual shader performance of the GT 430 is 151. The HD 4670 having 17 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 4670 delivers a marginally smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GT 430.

The GT 430 transistor size technology is 15 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 4670. This means that the GT 430 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 4670.

The Radeon HD 4670 1GB requires 59 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition requires 49 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 4670 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 430. The HD 4670 requires 10 Watts more than the GT 430 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the HD 4670 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GT 430.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 4670 1GB is a Fast-Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the R700 Architecture.

Architecture
R700 was AMD's Second Unified Shader Architecture.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed RV730 XT which has 4 Compute Units activated and thus offers 320 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 8 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 750MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of GDDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 800MHz.

Features
DirectX 10.1 Support (10.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 59W, it requires at least a 400W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI slot for power meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance somewhat below a GeForce GT 240.
Overview
GeForce GT 430 MSI Low Profile Dual Fan OC 1GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's middle-class GeForce GT 430, created by MSI.

Overclock Out of The Box
The Central Unit is now of 785MHz, instead of 700MHz while the Operating Memory Clock is now of 1000MHz.

Cooling Solution
The reference Cooling System has been replaced by MSI's Dual Fan Cooling System.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 6% performance boost over the reference GeForce GT 430.
