In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M 2GB are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M.
The GTX 950M has a 294 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 675M, but the GeForce GTX 675M has 24 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GeForce GTX 675M exhibits a 3.1 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 950M has a 294 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 675M, but the GeForce GTX 675M has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GeForce GTX 675M exhibits a 5.2 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GTX 950M was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GTX 675M, and so the GTX 950M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GTX 675M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB and the GeForce GTX 675M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The GeForce GTX 675M has 16 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 950M, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GTX 675M is slightly better than the GTX 950M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 675M has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 950M is 858 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTX 675M is 476. The GTX 950M having 382 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce GTX 675M performs better when taking into account other relevant data.
The GTX 950M transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce GTX 675M. This means that the GTX 950M is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce GTX 675M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB requires 50 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 675M requires 100 Watts. The GeForce GTX 675M requires 50 Watts more than the GTX 950M to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce GTX 675M may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 950M.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-N16P-GT which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The central unit runs at 914MHz and goes up to 993MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 1253MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. Features DirectX 12 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 50W, it may be equipped in average sized notebooks. Performance Because GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is just a higher clocked GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB, its performance is only about 5% faster than its predecessors and so GeForce GTX 860M 2GB is still faster. Still, it still offers decent gaming at 1920x1080 and most modern games should run fluently at high settings. System Suggestions We recommend a strong processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a notebook with GeForce GTX 950M 2GB. | Overview GeForce GTX 675M is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Fermi Architecture. Architecture The Fermi Architecture was first manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature. Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GF114 which has 8 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 64 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 620MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 750MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 100W, it is only suited for very large laptops. Performance GeForce GTX 675M is a direct rebrand of GeForce GTX 580M. Gaming benchmarks put its performance identical to a desktop GeForce GTX 560. System Suggestions We recommend a fast processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 675M. |
