In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M 2GB.
The GTX 950M has a 195 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 775M, but the GTX 775M has 72 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GTX 775M exhibits a 43.9 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 950M has a 195 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 775M, but the GTX 775M has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GTX 775M exhibits a 8.4 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GTX 950M was released over a year more recently than the GTX 775M, and so the GTX 950M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 775M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB and the GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The GTX 775M has 35.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 950M, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 775M is noticeably better than the GTX 950M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition has 1344. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 950M is 858 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 775M is 966. The GTX 775M having 108 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 775M delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 950M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB requires 50 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition requires 100 Watts. The GTX 775M requires 50 Watts more than the GTX 950M to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 775M may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 950M.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-N16P-GT which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The central unit runs at 914MHz and goes up to 993MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 1253MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. Features DirectX 12 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 50W, it may be equipped in average sized notebooks. Performance Because GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is just a higher clocked GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB, its performance is only about 5% faster than its predecessors and so GeForce GTX 860M 2GB is still faster. Still, it still offers decent gaming at 1920x1080 and most modern games should run fluently at high settings. System Suggestions We recommend a strong processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a notebook with GeForce GTX 950M 2GB. | Overview GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition is an iMac only, High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture. Architecture The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs. Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed Kepler Kepler GK104-N13E-GTX-A2 which has 7 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 1344 Shader Processing Units, 112 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 719MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 100W, it is suited for very large sized laptops. Performance GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition is a direct rebrand of GeForce GTX 680M. Gaming benchmarks indicate is on average with the older GeForce GTX 680M. System Suggestions We recommend a Power Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 775M Mac Edition. |
