In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro K5100M are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M 2GB.
The GTX 950M has a 143 MHz higher core clock speed than the Quadro K5100M, but the Quadro K5100M has 88 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the Quadro K5100M exhibits a 62.1 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 950M has a 143 MHz higher core clock speed than the Quadro K5100M, but the Quadro K5100M has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the Quadro K5100M exhibits a 10.1 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GTX 950M was released over a year more recently than the Quadro K5100M, and so the GTX 950M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the Quadro K5100M.
The Quadro K5100M has 6144 MB more video memory than the GTX 950M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro K5100M also has superior memory performance overall.
The Quadro K5100M has 35.5 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 950M, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro K5100M is noticeably better than the GTX 950M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB has 640 Shader Processing Units and the Quadro K5100M has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 950M is 858 and the actual shader performance of the Quadro K5100M is 1184. The Quadro K5100M having 326 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Quadro K5100M delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 950M.
The GeForce GTX 950M 2GB requires 50 Watts to run and the Quadro K5100M requires 100 Watts. The Quadro K5100M requires 50 Watts more than the GTX 950M to run. The difference is significant enough that the Quadro K5100M may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 950M.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-N16P-GT which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The central unit runs at 914MHz and goes up to 993MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 1253MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. Features DirectX 12 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 50W, it may be equipped in average sized notebooks. Performance Because GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is just a higher clocked GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB, its performance is only about 5% faster than its predecessors and so GeForce GTX 860M 2GB is still faster. Still, it still offers decent gaming at 1920x1080 and most modern games should run fluently at high settings. System Suggestions We recommend a strong processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a notebook with GeForce GTX 950M 2GB. | Quadro K5100M is a high-end mobile workstation based on the 28nm, Kepler architecture. It's based on the full variant of the Kepler GK104 and thus offers 1536 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs, on a 256-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 771MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 902MHz. Quadro K5100M's drivers are certified for professional applications. Therefore, and also because it's underclocked, its performance lies closer (but faster) to GeForce GTX 680MX despite the similarities to GeForce GTX 780M. |
